FAQ

ZIP Code Lookup questions

Quick answers about ZIP code searches, coordinates, map clicks, boundaries, and related results.

What is my ZIP code?
Your ZIP code is the 5-digit US postal code for the area where you live. You need it on letters, parcels and forms. To find it, type your home address in the search box above and pick it from the list, or click your house or street on the map.
What is the ZIP code for my location right now?
Zoom in on the map and click the place where you are. The tool shows the ZIP code for that point. If you know your street name, typing it is usually faster.
What is my full 9-digit ZIP code?
It is your 5-digit ZIP code plus 4 more digits, like 22162-1010 (ZIP+4). This tool shows the 5-digit ZIP code. To get the 4 extra digits, search your address in the USPS ZIP Code Lookup. Our guide explains what the extra 4 digits mean.
What is ZIP Code Lookup?
ZIP Code Lookup helps you find ZIP code details from an address, ZIP code, city, coordinates, or map location. Results can include the ZIP code, city, county, state, country, coordinates, boundaries, and related places.
Can I look up a ZIP code by address?
Yes. Start typing an address in the search box and choose a suggestion. If the selected address has a ZIP code, the tool shows ZIP code details and map context. To convert address lists into coordinates, use Address to Lat/Lon.
Can I find a ZIP code from latitude and longitude?
Yes. Enter coordinates as latitude, longitude, for example 40.761634, -73.977814. The tool searches for the ZIP code at that location. For bulk coordinate-to-address lookup, use Lat/Lon to Address.
Can I click the map to find a ZIP code?
Yes. Click an empty area on the map to use that point as a coordinate search. The tool fills the coordinates and looks up the ZIP code for that location.
What are related places and postcodes?
Related places are cities or populated places connected to the selected ZIP code. Related postcodes are ZIP codes found inside or mostly inside the selected city or place boundary.
Why do some ZIP codes show boundaries and others do not?
ZIP code boundaries are shown when boundary geometry is available for the selected result. Some results may only have a point location or structured address fields. If you need full address details for one address or coordinate pair, try Reverse Address Lookup.
Can I download related ZIP code results?
Yes. Use the CSV download button in the Related places / postcodes panel. The export includes properties such as ZIP code, formatted address, city, state, country, latitude, and longitude, but not boundary geometries.
Is this ZIP Code Lookup tool only for the United States?
This page is currently focused on United States ZIP codes. The autocomplete search is filtered to the US, and postcode searches use the US country filter where relevant. For postal codes outside the United States, use Postal Code Lookup.
Is this official USPS ZIP code data?
No. This tool uses open postal and map data, not an official USPS dataset. Results are suitable for lookup, mapping, analysis, and reuse according to the source data terms, but they should not be treated as official USPS records.
How is ZIP Code Lookup different from Reverse Address Lookup?
ZIP Code Lookup focuses on ZIP code details, ZIP boundaries, and related places or postcodes. Reverse Address Lookup focuses on full address details for one address or coordinate pair.
